School Fundraising
They drive me crazy!!! The second day of school Bridey brings home a fall fundraising packet. These things are insane. The prices of this stuff is so high I don't see how they expect the kids to sell it for one. There was one thing in there for $6 and then $9 was was the lowest price after that for a few things most of it was $15 and above. Most of the stuff in these books don't cost these prices in real life!! Then they give these silly things away for selling a certain amount of product. The first 5 or 6 prizes are so cheap and junky that nobody cares for them so of course the point is to sell 150 items to win the Wii game system. So of course Bridey is dying to win it. I hate to tell her there will be no way she can sell 150 items. The most she has ever sold was 30. I can see why she wants it.....it's a nice gift but really..... I know she hasn't gotten hardly any new things this year with John being off work but I don't see her getting this either. I wish she could but don't see it. She is going to be upset. Oh and just what is the fundraising money going for???? Well Martin school has been fundraising for a new playground since Bridey was in kindergarten, have they got it NO! But they did manage to put in a new bus lane and exit road last year. But still no playground 4 years later.

Oh I agree, and you know what REALLY gets my goat? Where is all the money that we pay in taxes going? WHY do they have to RAISE FUNDS ANYWAY?!?! I think we pay out the rear in those stupid taxes, and every year they have levies to increase them, FOR THE SCHOOLS. But yet, the schools still have to raise funds by selling crap for high prices in order to get a new playground?
PATHETIC.
They are using the CHILDREN to SELL SOMETHING. I don't think that is legal in any other sense.
(This is just a bit of a touchy subject with me...can you tell?)
:-p
I don't blame you! I can't stand them either! I'd like to smack the teachers and principal everytime they send on home.
I never even let my kids do it. I think the teachers got mad at me last year, because the minute the sales stuff came home I tossed it in the trash. Cassie was like "you're going to get me in trouble!"
I told her to tell them I threw them away. They never said anything about it to any of the kids afterwards that I know of. But if they had, they'd have got an earful from me! :-p
